Member Terms and Conditions

This Terms of Use (“Agreement”) is entered into between the SJI K9 Detection Club (“Club”) and the undersigned Member (“Member”). By signing below, the Member agrees to all policies, responsibilities, and rules stated herein as a condition of membership and use of the fenced training yard (“Yard”) located at 265 Price Street and any other Club‑managed facility.

1. DOG BEHAVIOR & ELIGIBILITY

Member certifies their dog(s) are healthy, safe, and suitable for yard use. The Club may suspend access for unsafe behavior.

2. GUEST POLICY

Member may bring one guest; Member is fully responsible for guest behavior. 

3. YARD USE RULES

3.1 Reservations & Access

Yard usage is by reservation. Please leave the yard by closing time of the yard reservation. Gate codes must not be shared. Maximum of two dogs per reservation. 

3.2 Safety Protocols

Gates must be latched and dogs inside the yard before dogs are off‑leash. Only one gate may be open at a time.

3.3 Clean‑Up & Maintenance

Member must dispose of pet waste immediately and report damage.

3.4 Noise & Neighbor Relations

Excessive barking must be addressed. Members agree to comply with mediation.

3.5 Prohibited Items & Substances

Alcohol, tobacco/vaping, firearms, weapons, fireworks, and illegal drugs are strictly prohibited anywhere on the property.

4. INSTRUCTORS & CLASSES

Some instructors are independent contractors; participation involves inherent risks. Member releases the Club and instructors from liability.

5. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

The Yard property is owned by the JLS Family Resource Center and in rare instances, the JLS FRC may require access to the yard in which case prepaid yard reservations may be refunded or rescheduled. Additional special circumstances in which access may be restricted are as follows, but not limited to, weather-related instances, structural damage to the yard, or termination of the yard lease. In the event that a yard reservation is cancelled or access is restricted due to special circumstances as outlined above, a prepaid yard reservation may be refunded or rescheduled.

6. TERMINATION OF ACCESS

The Club may suspend or revoke access for safety violations, policy violations, or sharing access codes.

7. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Member acknowledges voluntary acceptance of all risks and agreement to all terms stated.

Member Liability Waiver

This Liability Waiver is entered into between the SJI K9 Detection Club (“Club”) and the undersigned Member (“Member”). By signing below, the Member agrees to all policies, responsibilities, and liability releases stated herein as a condition of membership and use of the fenced training yard (“Yard”) located at 265 Price Street and any other Club‑managed facility.

1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

1.1 Inherent Risks

Member understands that activities involving dogs—including training, off‑leash exercise, play, classes, and yard usage—carry inherent risks, including but not limited to dog bites or scratches, dog‑on‑dog conflicts, escape of a dog, injury from terrain or weather, and damage to personal property.

1.2 Responsibility for Dogs

Member accepts full responsibility for the actions, behavior, and safety of their dog(s) at all times.

2. RELEASE OF LIABILITY

2.1 General Release

Member releases the Club, its officers, instructors, volunteers, and agents from any and all claims arising from injuries, property damage, incidents involving other dogs, or environmental hazards.

2.2 Release of JLSFRC

Member acknowledges the Yard is leased from JLSFRC and releases JLSFRC from all claims arising from yard usage.

3. INDEMNIFICATION

Member agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Club and JLSFRC from claims or expenses arising from the conduct of the Member, their dog(s), or guest(s).

Member acknowledges voluntary acceptance of all risks and agreement to all terms stated.
